Not So Bad

This got so out of hand.

Over in the Nier LP I made a comment that No. 7 and Kaine totally spend their time being kicked out of the Village by having bitchin' parties with the boar. Somebody else commented that they would like to see fanart of the the two of them around a fire with their backs against a sleeping boar.

So out comes the sketch.

And then I think, well, you know, I'd like to give this some kind of dimension with shading, so let's just do a little grayscale here, add in some lights and darks--

Coming from the fire, of course, so maybe a little yellow, blue for shadows...

Actually I'd like to add some more color to the-- oh screw it COLOR THIS BITCH.

So. Kaine and No. 7, enjoying the night alongside their new friend, The Boar.



For the record, Nier-world doesn't have a true night on this side of the planet, it only ever gets to dusk, so yeah, it's actually the middle of the night but it never really gets darker than this.

Also for the record, 'Kaine and No. 7 have bitchin' parties' is game canon, not me being an idiot fangirl ascribing cuteness where there is none. Granted, no parties (or, presumably, boars) but there's a conversation about how they sit around the campfire and tell stories and roast marshmallows and it's a real thing that they actually do. I love this game.
